build notifications :: Pulse feature tour
Pulse can notify you of build events via email (using either HTML or plain text format), Jabber IM, or an RSS feed. Every developer has their own notification preferences so they can receive just the notifications that interest them.
Define contact points
Add email addresses and Jabber accounts to your preferences.
Subscribe to projects
Subscribe to project notifications about a project via your preferences. You determine how and when you are contacted using notification conditions. These conditions are arbitrary boolean expressions for maximum flexibility. For example, you can subscribe to:
- all builds;
- all changed builds;
- all failed builds;
- all failed or changed builds; or,
- all failed builds and the first successful build after a failure.
Subscribing to builds with changes provides a mechanism for notification of any project activity.
Customise your notifications
Don't like the format of the notifications Pulse sends? By writing your own subscription templates, you have complete control over the notification messages. Create different templates for different contact types. Use built in macros and functions to simplify your templates.
Windows system tray client
A free add-on to Pulse called Stethoscope can be used on a Windows desktop to monitor your Pulse server. This client sits in the Windows system tray, allowing you to see your build status at a glance. You can configure Stethoscope to notify you when builds complete, and even use it to trigger builds.
